Fall Fashion Classes @ ArtsWestchester

Exciting and creative classes have begun in White Plains!
New England Fashion + Design has been teaching youths and adults for 10 years in Norwalk and has just recently opened a studio in ArtsWestchester.  Classes begin  Wednesday and will be held on Wednesdays and Fridays from 3:30-5:30. Potential students are more than welcome to drop by on any Wed/Fri to get an idea of what happens during class.  Kids learn illustration, pattern making, sewing and styling while cultivating their inner designer.

Hospice of Westchester Hosts ‘In Celebration 2017’ @ Westchester Country Club

WHAT: Hospice of Westchester (HOW) will host its annual “In Celebration” Gala Cocktail Reception on Thursday, September 28. The special guest speaker for the evening will be Emmy Award-winning News Anchor and Correspondent Stone Phillips. In honor of HOW’s 25th anniversary celebration this year, the event will honor the organization’s patients and their families, as well as its exceptional and compassionate Staff and Volunteers. “In Celebration” will also celebrate the life of Anna L. Shereff.

The evening will feature culinary delights, open bar and entertainment. The dress code is business attire and valet parking is available.

Emerson String Quartet @ Kusel Auditorium at Sleepy Hollow High School

WHAT: As part of its 2017-2018 concert series, Friends of Music will host the Emerson String Quartet on Saturday, October 7th. Appearing for their 19th Friends of Music performance, The New York Times has described Emerson String Quartet’s performances as “everything we have come to expect from this superb ensemble: technically resourceful, musically insightful, full of character, and always interesting.”

The performance will feature the following pieces of music:

  • Beethoven’s String Quartet in F Major, Op. 135
  • Schumann’s String Quartet No. 3 in A Major, Op. 41
  • Beethoven’s String Quartet in E-flat Major, Op. 127

Individual tickets ($35) along with series subscriptions ($140) are available for purchase on friendsofmusicconcerts.org or at the door. Children 18 and younger enter free!

About Friends of Music: Friends of Music Concerts, Inc. is an award-winning, non-profit, volunteer organization that brings to Westchester audiences world-renowned ensembles and distinguished younger musicians chosen from among the finest artists in today’s diverse world of chamber music.  Through our Partnership in Education program in public schools, and free admission to our six-concert season for those 18 years of age and under, we give young people throughout the county enhanced exposure to and appreciation of classical music, building audiences of the future.
