Gallery 1989 is a student run pop-up gallery located in Larchmont, NY. A pop-up gallery is a temporary establishment that occupies a vacant space until a permanent tenant takes over. The team of students is from SUNY Purchase, and they are currently running a gallery at 1989 Palmer Ave in Larchmont. Their mission is to provide a space for emerging, contemporary artists in various disciplines to segue in to the art market by having professional gallery exhibitions.
Their second show of the fall season opens this Saturday, October 18th at 6pm. “Efflorescence,” is a collection of colorful watercolors and prints by Zhenya Doolan. Zhenya is a Russian artist currently living in Buffalo, NY. His exhibition “Efflorescence” includes woodcut prints that are created on handmade paper and then hand colored, making each an original creation. The artwork will be on show at Gallery 1989 from October 18th to the 25th. The opening reception will have live music, light refreshments and beautiful, colorful art.
