The Alzheimer’s Association of the Hudson Valley/Rockland/Westchester Chapter is once again hosting its annual premier Gala, “An Evening of Wine and Roses”.
The Association is a local chapter of the greater Alzheimer’s Association and supports the communities in Dutchess, Orange, Putnam, Rockland, Sullivan, Ulster and Westchester Counties. The mission of the Association is to eliminate Alzheimer’s Disease through the advancement of research; to provide and enhance care and support for all affected by the disease and to reduce the risk of dementia by the promotion of brain health.
This year’s Gala will be held at the Poughkeepsie Grand Hotel in Poughkeepsie, NY, on Saturday, May 12, 2012. According to Karen Skelton, who heads up the Gala Committee, “A Night of Wine & Roses is the Alzheimer Association Hudson Valley/Rockland/Westchester, NY Chapter’s signature gala event. This event is held in the spring and in the 16 years since its inception it has raised over $1,000,000 for the organization!”
Skelton also says, “an integral part of Wine & Roses is the Auction, where donations from local restaurants, artists, and small businesses – combined with not-so-local items make for excellent bidding. This year’s auction list includes VIP tickets to the TriBeCa film festival, Disney Park Passes, fine art, gift certificates to local restaurants, and hand crafted jewelry. Also, this year our theme will be a Masquerade Ball – so pick your gown, don your mask and dance the night away, all while raising money for a terrific cause!”
