Join Ferry Sloops aboard its fundraising sail on the sloop Clearwater, and experience sailing on a 106-foot wooden ship designed after 18th and 19th century Dutch sailing sloops. Once aboard, you’ll have a chance to help the crew raise the sail, haul the lines and handle the tiller. Or you can sit back, relax on the deck and just enjoy the stunning views and beauty of the Hudson River in the company of family and friends.
The 3-hour Clearwater sail will take place on Sunday, August 19, 2012, departing from King Marine in Verplanck, NY at 2:00PM. Free parking is available on the street, outside the main entrance of King Marine. Directions
Sailing on Clearwater is an ecological adventure as well as a voyage of discovery, learning more about the Hudson, and joining in songs about sailing and environmental concerns.
Tickets for the sail are only $40 each and can be reserved by emailing Lisa Amberger at [email protected].
After reserving your tickets, please mail your check (payable to Ferry Sloops, Inc.) to Ferry Sloops, Inc., P.O. Box 346, Croton-on-Hudson, NY 10520.
There are a limited number of tickets available and the sail is expected to sell out quickly.
There are no refreshments available for purchase onboard. Light snacks will be provided by Ferry Sloops members. We strongly suggest that all passengers bring reusable water bottles when they come onboard in order to keep hydrated while sailing. You are welcome to bring whatever you’d like to eat or drink on your sail, including wine or beer. Please note that all alcohol consumption takes place at the captain’s discretion.
