Father’s Day Guide


Father’s Day Flow at Scarsdale Yoga Studios, Sat, June 16, 1:30pm – 3:30pm: Give yourself, or that special Father in your life, the gift of Yoga! As men’s lives become more full, and often more stressed, they require a regular practice to reground and remind themselves of who they really are, and what is most important to them. During this workshop class you will learn and practice the four foundations of yoga: yoga breathing (pranayama), yoga postures (asana), centering and meditation (dharana), and relaxation (shivasana). Special emphasis will be paid to the concerns and questions of the men in the class.

Father/Daughter Afternoon Tea at Chocolations in Mamaroneck, Sat, June 16, 2pm – 4pm: One of the most important things a father (or father figure) can do for his daughter is to give her plenty of fatherly one-on-one time and affection. Space is limited, so call 914-777-3600 to reserve a spot. Price: $25.00 per person (tax and gratuity is not included)

Throw Daddy to the Wolves, Wolf Conservation Center, South Salem, Sunday, June 17 at 11am.  . Learn about the mythology, biology and ecology of wolf families and discover why June is a special time for packs in North America. Guests assemble and present Ambassador wolves Atka, Alawa and Zephyr a special Fathers Day surprise and also visit the WCC’s critically endangered red wolves and Mexican gray wolves too. Pre-registration is required.

Father’s Day Beer Dinner at Terrapin Restaurant in Rhinebeck:

Treat Dad to a Beer Dinner featuring three of the best Hudson Valley breweries and fresh, local ingredients. At 5pm on Sunday, June 17th – in the bistro, on the patio and in the dining room! The three course menu will showcase brews from Keegan Ales, Brewery Ommegang, and Captain Lawrence Brewing Company. Every Dad is sure to find some beers he loves: from Keegan’s we’ll pour Old Capitol, Hurricane Kitty and Joe Mama’s Milk Stout; from Captain Lawrence there will be Liquid Gold and Golden Delicious; and from Ommegang, Witte and BPA. The dinner is $39, including 3-oz pours of each the above mentioned beers. Captain Lawrence Brewery, Elmsford:

Take dad to sip some local brews at Captain Lawrence’s new bigger & bolder brewery! They’re open Saturday from noon to 6 pm.

Fun things to do with dad:

There are several boats that can be chartered for daytime or nighttime fishing out of City Island. Check out Westchester Happening’s article about Fishing in City Island.

Bring home an awesome growler of fresh beer from Beer Necessities in New Rochelle. OR make him the ultimate six pack with their mix-and-match option.

Get quality time together at Rye Playland– spend the day on the sound, walking the boardwalk, mini golfing, and/or on the rides!

If dad’s loves history, head over to Bedford Historic Jackson House (c1857).

Hammond Museum and Japanese Stroll Garden in North Salem: The Hammond Museum was designed by Natalie Hays Hammond who borrowed the basic principles and ideas of the Stroll Garden incorporating indigenous plantings with popular and rare Japanese and Chinese specimens. Enjoy bird watching, brush painting, Children’s Workshops, Educational Tours, Dining, & simply strolling through the beautiful garden.

Art enthusiasts can head to the Hudson River Museum in Yonkers, a collection of 19th and 20th century American art and cultural, social and historical material related to the Museum’s historic Mansion and the wider Westchester County and Hudson River Valley region.
