There is a ton of great, local talent in Westchester. From Broadway-like stage productions to budding rap artists, to keepers of the faith of the Bard himself, this county is brimming!
We chatted the other night with the lead singer of a local band while she was rehearsing for a charity Cabaret event, to talk about music, and the band she performs with. The Vintage Kings have been performing the local music circuit in Westchester and Fairfield Counties for over a decade. The band itself has been around for 15 years, and consists of Jimmy on drums and vocals; Bernie on Bass and vocals, Shredder on guitar and vocals, and the most recent member, Sue…on vocals.
After hearing Sue belt out some Broadway show tunes in her powerful alto, she sat down to tell us a bit about the Vintage Kings. “The band’s been around for some time, so we play a lot of classic rock, but also have contemporary rock in our arsenal as well”. The band plays a great circuit of locations in lower Westchester, “frequenting Chat 19 in Larchmont, Dudley’s in New Rochelle, and Molly Spillane’s in Mamaroneck”. In fact, three of the band members are from New Rochelle, and one is from Mamaroneck. The band also plays locations in Fairfield County, CT. They are even available for private parties! Check out a tune from a recent show at Chat 19…Vintage Kings Band
The Vintage Kings will be performing in the near future…on Thanksgiving Eve (11.23.11) at Uncle Henry’s in Harrison, starting at 10pm. Check their website here, for their full calendar, or email [email protected] for information on booking a show!!
