What do you get when you take a quaint little River Town, and transform its streets into a stage for local talent? Well, its FNL of course! Yes, that stands for Friday Night Live, and it happens in Hastings-on-Hudson just about one Friday night per month. Hastings’ FNL is an arts and music festival, where the streets of Warburton, Main, Spring and Southside are used for all types of things from music to dance to…yes, even magic.
On Friday, July 8, 2011, from 6pm to 9pm, Hastings invites you to experience Midsummer Magic, an event that promises to transport you to places in your mind that you might not have thought possible. The list of performers is extensive, and impressive! The evening is being guest produced by one if its performers, a talented Dobbs Ferry guy by the name of Vinny De Ponto. Vinny is more widely known as Vanishing Vinny. According to his bio, Vinny is “no stranger to magic”, and at only 24 years young, he has performed all over the world, including Las Vegas, and has done shows for such large corporations as Pepsi and IBM. Vinny was featured in the “Best of Westchester 2008” and won the Lance Burton Award of Excellence in 2006. Most recently, Vinny was featured on the cover of 914inc. Magazine, as a “Westchester Wunkerkind”.
Some of the other magical performers include Chris Ruggiero, a comedic juggler who does a one-man variety show. Ruggiero’s show is interactive, and he encourages audience participation. Patrick Terry, a magician and mind-reader who has been entertaining folks for over 15 years will also be featured. Terry attended NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts, and has performed in front of many famous people, including the President of the United States! CARDONE, a magician, escape artist and ventriloquist, is a full-time entertainer who will be wowing the crowd. He has been featured on MTV, Fox5 and A&E Biography.
The other guest producer for the evening, and who will be winding down the night’s events, is D.J. Mike Allen. Mike is the owner of Extreme Music Productions, or EMP. He has supplied many a Westchester event with fantastic music and entertainment, and has played for the likes of Kelly Rippa and Rob Thomas. He has received recognition from News 12, the Journal News and Westchester Magazine, to name a few.
In addition to all the performances, many of the businesses in Hastings participate by offering specials and staying open late. For information on business and restaurant specials, visit here.
