So, January is winding down with its post holiday malaise and waning New Year’s Resolutions. Time to gear up for Valentine’s Day, and gifts for your loved one. Right? Well…what about a Valentine’s Day gift for YOU? How much do you love yourself? Enough to keep up with that New Year’s Resolution to get healthy? Well…we have you covered. How about a three month membership to a gym? A few personal training sessions? Enough to keep you motivated? We sure think so!
We know your family and friends love you, and want you to be around for the long haul. Or perhaps you want to give someone you love the gift of health. We are offering a prize consisting of three months free at WILL2LOSE WEIGHTLOSS FITNESS CLUB in Scarsdale on Central Avenue, where Dr. Vito DiMatteo’s prescription for weight loss begins with the well-established essentials: proper nutrition and a fitness regimen. Dr. DiMatteo developed his programs at Will2Lose specifically with weight loss in mind. Dr. DiMatteo says that when members walk into his health club, they won’t find a lot of bare midriffs and rock-hard abs. Instead, they will see a lot of other people just like them, who are serious about losing weight. A weight loss and fitness plan is tailored to match each member’s ability level. Features at the health club include an organic smoothie bar and programs for kids and seniors too. It also offers a far-infrared sauna…and is the first facility to offer this type of sauna on a large scale. Spending 45 minutes in the sauna can burn up to 800 calories! But, as DiMatteo says, “we are not about the quick fix” and “real weight loss is reinforced by long-term change”.
The three month membership to Will2Lose is only part of our prize. In addition, the winner will receive TWO private, personal training sessions with WH’s own Health and Wellness expert, Norma LaVecchia. Norma is familiar to many of you who read her columns here in WH, and she is a certified personal trainer, and teaches Zumba, Zumba Fitness, Flirty Girl and Spinning. Norma will meet with you privately, to get you started on a customized fitness plan that you can adapt to any time or location. So, if you cannot make it to the gym, you can rest assured that Norma’s plan for you will keep you on track.
The value on the Will2Lose membership is $450.00, and the value of the personal training sessions with Norma is $160.00, for a TOTAL PRIZE VALUE OF $610.00!!!
Entering our contest is so easy! Simply comment under this article, and tell us why you feel compelled to be a healthier you, or why someone you love deserves the gift of health. The winner will be chosen by the WH staff, Norma LaVecchia and Dr. DiMatteo. All comments must be posted by February 14, 2012. Any comments posted after that date will not be considered, and we will make the BIG ANNOUNCEMENT on February 20, 2012! So, don’t you deserve the gift of good health? We sure think you do!

Hi! I want to be healthy and Valentine’s Day would be a great day to start. I have been struggling a lot with my weight. I am a T2 Diabetic and need help to get motivated to exercise and get healthy. I have seen Will2Lose and have always wanted to check it out. This would be perfect! 🙂 Thanks! Corrine
Ironically enough, I saw this contest a few hours after I had just registered for my first Avon Walk for Breast Cancer. I will be participating in a 2 day, 40 mile walk this October and am walking in honor of my mother in law and grandmother. I would love to get in my best physical shape to succeed in one of the biggest goals I have set for myself. To be in the shape necessary to complete the walk will be the most rewarding a priceless feeling, especially knowing I am walking towards a cure! <3
I love the concept of giving yourself a Valentine’s Day gift. Too much emphasis is placed on having the supposedly perfect romantic evening and as a result, a lot of people, single women especially, tend to curse or dread the holiday or spend it sullen and lonely. This is a terrific way to celebrate true love for ones self!
I would love to be able to lose some weight & start to get back into shape.
Why not become a healthy me, instead of remaining the same unhealthy me that I have become for so many years? Why not lead by example and show my baby girl and my family that we can all live a healthy lifestyle together? Health equates to longevity, happiness, and balance. I want to be here as long as I possibly can for my family! What better way to start than to love myself enough to be healthy!
Hi Norma,
I have worked hard to be more kind to myself in 2011. I went through a tough loss in late summer of 2010. Getting back to shape on my own very gradually was an important goal as it helped me to make more happy for myself. As I get older, I find it is increasingly important not to lose sight of oneself, and to take better care of myself by giving my body the means and ability to exercise, to eat better, and be around people who bring you up, not down. After all, when we are happier, we are better to others and it trickles down all around us– within ourselves and helps others to thrive around us. I am a better mother, friend, wife, and sister and human being when I take care of myself. I would love the opprtunity to take my health and fitness to another level and to be able to do a half marathon this year, in 2012. Working out also has helped me with grief too. It has given me a way to move into a better place and lessens the sadness all around.
I applaud you for sharing your passion and commitment for health and fitness with others. It is inspiring.
Thank you!
Marni Marron
I’m always at the bottom of my priority list; I’d like to move myself to the top this year. Weight loss and getting in shape are ultra important to me right now; it would be great to get help to jump start my journey. I love my inner me and would like to love the outer me as well.
This is a perfect opportunity and PUSH to reach my goal by May 29th of losing half my body weight. Up until the last 5 years, I loved my body, played sports, danced and ate smart. When I entered into college, I stopped being active and quickly, I gained 100 lbs over 5 years. The day I received news I was pregnant in Feb 2010, I said this is my time to SNAP BACK TO REALITY. At the weight I was, I hated working out and kept denying that I was overweight to begin with since I grew up being fit. After I delivered my son in October 2010 – my life changed naturally, however, I discovered an inner love for myself that I so long ago lost. I started walking, MOVING and kept track of everything I put in my body. Still resistant to go to the gym, I managed losing 60 lbs on my own. In late November 2011, I met Norma at Lucille’s for a Zumba class. All of my friends/family knew I would love Zumba since dance and music are two of my biggest passions. However, after the feeling I had when the class was over, I felt even more inspired to continue my road to recovery. My weight plateaued for a couple months prior to doing Zumba and I felt stuck and even started thinking is this weight loss still going to happen? However, the love I have embraced through Zumba has kept me going and I am now only 30lbs left until I am 130! I can’t believe it – the finish line looks so crisp..however – its only the beginning. My gym membership where I am at now expires 2/20/12 and with finances being tight as a young, single mother getting my Master’s degree – this is the perfect chance to help me get to that goal and then give back to my community by doing what I love – – showing others – that loving yourself can take you a long way.. One goal of mine is to become a Zumba fitness instructor by summer as a birthday present to myself (my birthday is my goal date) – and then let the journey begin! I also know that personal training sessions would really push me that much harder and get more tone, which is really what I need! Thanks for this opportunity.
