Westchester Happening is proud to have a new feature…the Westchester Wellness Corner! Our guest writer and fitness expert is Norma LaVecchia, and we are thrilled to have her with us. Check in once or twice a month, as Norma gives us fitness tips, tidbits on healthy eating, and offers ways in which we can cut back on all the stress in our lives!
We sat down with fitness expert and personal trainer, Norma LaVecchia a few days ago, over a cappuccino. A friendly, down-to-earth mom of two active boys, and a Mount Vernon resident, she gave us some insight as to what motivates her love of health and wellness. Says LaVecchia, “In 2002 I had my first baby. In 2004 I had another. In 2008 I saw a picture of myself. I looked old and saw all that stored energy….fat. Something clicked in me. I knew I wanted to change. I made it my goal to change. I joined the gym and got a personal trainer. I caught the fitness bug and lost 40 pounds. Six months later I became a ZUMBA instructor and got my Group Exercise Certification from the Aerobic and Fitness Association of America. Now I teach Strength and Stretch, Zumba, Cardio Pump, and Spin just to name a few. I am also certified as a Personal Trainer. My clients range from 10 years old to 70. I love my job because I make a difference in peoples lives!”
She was so enthusiastic and inspiring, that we asked her to collaborate with WH, and come on board to keep Westchester up on Health and Wellness. We are excited to introduce her to you, our readers, and we are looking forward to some great tips in the coming months on how to meet weight loss challenges and health and wellness goals.

She also offers Personal Training there, and teaches the kids’ program for fitness! If you don’t feel like exercising with the boys, then hit up Norma at Lucille Roberts in Yonkers, for her challenging Tummy Tuck and Butt Lift, Total Body Conditioning classes. Or, you can ditch the workout, and join the party for Zumba Toning and Zumba! If you are looking for a fun workout, she will get you going with Flirty Girl classes!
