WHAT: As part of its 2017-2018 concert series, Friends of Music will host Brooklyn Rider on Saturday, April 28th. The breakout ensemble, whose performances attract legions of fans from classical and world music, has been hailed by some as “the future of chamber music.” The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette said of the group, “They are four classical musicians playing with the energy of young rock stars.”

The performance will feature the following pieces of music:

  • Selections from Bach’s Art of the Fugue
  • Bella by Barlight by John Lurie (b. 1952)
  • BTT by Colin Jacobsen (b. 1978)
  • Beethoven’s String Quartet in B-flat Major, Op. 130.

Individual tickets ($35) along with series subscriptions ($140) are available for purchase on or at the door. Children 18 and younger enter free!
