Curiosity Concerts Presents Argus Quartet

December 10, 2016 @ 3:00 pm – 4:00 pm
Byram Shubert Library
21 Mead Ave
Greenwich, CT 06830

Curiosity Concerts is a series of free family concerts presented by professional musicians at different venues in the Greenwich, CT area. Concerts are 50 minutes long and are designed to inspire parents as well as their children of any age (but your child should be able to enjoy an hour of music).

The Argus Quartet presents excerpts from two late quartets of Beethoven and Schubert, as well as a freshly written piece by composer Ted Hearne. Argus loves to perform classic chamber music masterpieces alongside newly written works, exploring how the music of our past inspires and contextualizes the music of our time. The three incredibly varied quartets in this program are filled with beauty, excitement, emotion, and even some crazy sounds you’ve probably never heard a string quartet make before!

The Argus Quartet is dedicated to reinvigorating the audience-performer relationship through new and innovative concert presentations of diverse repertoire. Recent performances include appearances at Carnegie Hall, Laguna Beach Live!, Encinitas’ Music By The Sea, the Hear Now Music Festival, Music Academy of the West, the Birdfoot Festival, and the Cello Biënnale Amsterdam. Argus recently began an appointment as the Yale School of Music’s fellowship quartet-in-residence, and is the first ensemble to be mentored by the Brentano String Quartet in that capacity.
