Piano master Kenny Barron calls Hayama “an amazing young pianist with great chops, a great harmonic concept and a great imagination!!!”

Originally from Kyoto, Japan, pianist Miki Hayama is a highly respected pianist in New York’s jazz scene. She studied classic piano at the Osaka College of Music, studied jazz piano with Sadayasu Fujii at Fuji Jazz school, and is the first prize winner of Yokohama Jazz Competition.

Hayama has performed and shared at the stage with Grammy Award winning alto saxophonist, Kenny Garrett, Grammy nominated vocalist, Nnenna Freelon , Aretha Franklin, Roy Hargrove, Kiyoshi Kitagawa, Richie Goods, Shunzo Ohno, and Miriam Sullivan, to name a few.

Hayama will be joined by Kim Clarke on bass and Barbara Merjan on drums. Clarke is noted internationally as “a dynamic Woman in Jazz”; and has been included in the Who’s Who In the Performing Arts, Bass Player Magazine, Guitar Player Magazine, and several books on Women in Jazz.
