On Wednesday, June 18, 2014, the Vermont Sail Freight Project will dock at Shattemuc Yacht Club in Ossining and set up an open air market at 2:00pm – 6:00pm, with a presentation at 6:30pm by VSFP Project Director, Erik Andrus.
The Vermont Sail Freight Project is a sail-powered transportation company, delivering sustainably farmed products to families and retailers along the historic Champlain-Hudson waterway. Their sailing barge ferries shelf stable foods from the Champlain Valley, Vermont and the Adirondack region down to New York City and ports between maximizing wind power over costly and polluting fossil fuels.
The barge’s cargo for sale includes: non-perishable and preserved agricultural products such as jams, jellies, pickles and condiments, storage crops, dry beans, rice, dried herbs, maple syrup, honey – all sustainably produced by farmers in our community. Products subject to availability.
