Beverly Shipko, noted oil painter of cookies, cakes and whipped-cream-on-canvas, will demonstrate how she paints such yummy-looking desserts. This will be followed by a talk on marketing art with a single subject focus, in this case, desserts. The demo and talk will take place on Saturday, September 6, 2014, from 1-4 PM, at the Girl Scout House 31 Wayside Lane, in Scarsdale. The event and reception are free and open to the public.
Shipko, a member of River Arts, and advertising executive-turned-artist, has truly found her delicious niche. She paints in both large and small formats, a wide variety of desserts ranging from Oreo Cookies (complete with crumbs), to birthday cakes and bowls of trifles filled with strawberries, blueberries, and mounds of custard. Your mouth waters just looking at her paintings, which she renders in vivid color, minute detail, in amazing realism. Despite her focus on such tempting treats, Beverly remains svelte and slim. How does she do it? Perhaps she can give us a few clues after her demo about her world of artistic treats.
Following the demo, Beverly will switch from her “art hat” to her “marketing cap” to speak about how a single focus in subject, theme, or style, can pave an easier path to gallery representation. Attendees will learn about how to tweak their art or their message to present a consistent, motivating image to galleries, museums, and potential buyers.
This event promises to be unique, interesting, informative and fun. A reception buffet will follow, consisting of desserts and other goodies as portrayed in Beverly’s unique art.
